1. Be fully vaccinated and that at least 14 days have passed since the last dose of the vaccine.
2. Have a valid passport throughout your stay.
3. Fill in the ESTA form or apply for a visa as a tourist, depending on your country of origin.

Vaccines needed for the United States

The first requirement to travel to New York in 2023 is be fully vaccinated and that at least 14 days have passed since you received your last dose of the vaccine.

• What does it mean to be fully vaccinated? It means that you have received all the doses of your vaccine: one if you have received a single-dose vaccine (such as Johnson & Johnson) and both if you have received a two-dose vaccine (such as Pfizer or Moderna).
• Do I need a vaccine booster to travel to the United States? No, no reinforcement is needed. Only the original dose (or both doses, depending on your vaccine).
• Do children need to be vaccinated? No. Those under the age of 18 are exempt from this requirement.

• What if I only have one dose because I have passed the Covid? Although in your country this is considered a complete vaccination schedule, in the United States they do not consider it that way. If your vaccine is 2 doses, you will have to get the 2nd dose of the vaccine and wait at least 14 days to enter the United States.
• How do I show proof of vaccination? You will have to show it to your airline in physical or digital format.

Passport to travel to the United States

The second of the requirements to travel to New York and the United States is that you have a Valid passport throughout your stay in the country.

Go look for your passport (come on, it's a moment!) and, if you see that it expires soon, make an appointment to renew it today, since at certain times of the year the wait can be very long.

ESTA form or visa for the United States
